Cleveland Hopkins International Airport: Cleveland Airport Guide

Overall, I had a good experience at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The airport is easy to navigate and doesn’t feel overwhelming, which makes traveling a bit less stressful. There’s a decent selection of stores and food options throughout the terminals—enough variety to grab a meal, coffee, or last-minute travel items while waiting for a flight. Some decent restrooms. While some areas of the airport could definitely use upgrades or modernization, everything was functional and fairly clean. A refresh in certain spots would really elevate the overall feel, but it didn’t take away from the convenience of getting through the airport. One of the biggest positives was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful, which always makes a difference when traveling. Even TSA was pleasant and efficient, which is not always the case at airports, so that was a very welcome surprise. Some were even wishing us a happy holiday season. All in all, Cleveland Hopkins offers a solid travel experience. With a few updates it could be even better, but the friendly staff and smooth overall flow make it a good airport to fly through.

The Cleveland airport is not my favorite, but it is also far from the worst. Arrival is easy, the traffic is usually not terrible. Likewise, security can get long but Precheck almost never does. Airline counters only draw huge crowds when a cancellation happens - and I'd say the frequency here is no worse than any other airport subject to winter weather. I like that, once past security, all the concourses are connected, so no matter who you're flying, you can go to any restaurant you'd like. Bar Symon and Great Lakes Brewing are the standouts. They have Hudson News shops, fast casual food, a hair salon, and some other shops, but nothing incredibly exciting. Despite major renovations in recent memory, the airport still feels dated. None of the power outlets in the seats work. At least tape over them or something. But again, beyond some surface or presentation issues, the airport does a good job, generally, of getting you to where you're going.

Nice little airport and easy to navigate, clean and decent size seating area throughout the Airport. Didn’t have to wait long to get the baggage unlike other major airport. Only issue I did see that rental car shuttle is all the way to other end of baggage carousel number # 1 so had bit walk to catch shuttle. Rental facility seems far away from the airport, easily takes about 10 min by rental bus.

As larger airports go, Hopkins is one of the easier in my humble opinion. I don't rate sports by amenities. Instead I rate by ease of use and convenience. Arrival pickup is in need of improvement, but the security and terminals are decent.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleveland Hopkins International Airport will always be my hometown airport. I grew up about 45 minutes away and flew out of CLE countless times over the years. It’s familiar, easy to navigate, and never overwhelmingly busy—which is honestly a blessing. United has always had a strong presence here, with Frontier now flying as well. While it could probably use an upgrade, it still does what it needs to do without the chaos of larger airports. Baggage claim pickups are refreshingly relaxed (within reason), and on a recent trip we even enjoyed the United Club lounge before flying home. Reliable, nostalgic, and stress-free—CLE will always have a special place in my travel memories.
