What Visitors Say
Kirtland Park is a hidden gem of beautiful green space in the Goodrich Kirtland area, right on East 49th and the South Marginal Roads. It is close to the Lakefront and offers a beautiful view of the city.. It originally had a water play area, baseball diamond, playground, outdoor amphitheater, water fountains, a clubhouse and of course, Our Lady of Liberty and Peace statue, dedicated to veterans of WWII. There are remnants of these but the park has fallen into disuse and disrepair. The city did some restoration of the playground, steps, railings, park benches and picnic tables in 2016. They hope to do more. Friends of Kirtland Park has hosted concerts in the amphitheater, daffodil plantings, clean up days, a kite day to celebrate the kite sculpture that was installed in the park, Easter Egg Hunts and more. People come there for family get togethers, church picnics, to have a cookout on Fourth of July, to watch the annual Air Show or just have a relaxing lunch away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is a designated historic city landmark. The grass and trees are always clean, well maintained and lovely. It was named after Jared Potter Kirtland, a prominent Clevelander. He was a man of many interests, including botany, medicine and politics. He was a founder of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. We do honor to his memory , the people who built the beautiful park through the The Works Progress Administration , and the WW II Veterans ,when we visit the park and appreciate its beauty, and nurture the care and upkeep of the park.

4 years agoThis Park is a Wonderful place to watch the Cleveland Air Show for Free.
6 years agoOne of the City of Cleveland’s many neglected parks. You can find cyclocross practice here in the fall. There is a cool amphitheater style tiered area that is pretty neat. Would be a great place to host an event where you need people to sit around a stage.
3 years agoGreat for relaxing and walking your dogs. Even better to see F22s flying overhead.
