What Visitors Say
Great time - small resort and lots of fun - I like how you can carve across from one slope to another and even hit up the woods. They def should run the snow makers in the center woods to help cover the rocks and I wish they would'nt demolish the small jumps that the kids make but other than that, pretty cool place.
2 months agoI had an excellent time, it was my first time snowboarding ever but I was not intimidated at all! My snow instructor Derek was very informative and comforting! The man running the place rusty, is also very attentive and warm! Mindy is the lovely woman working the rental counter and you can tell she's very passionate about her job! I also got to meet Peggy in the lounge who became a pretty quick friend of mine! Looking forward to returning
a year agoWe did a w hours skin session with Shane H. Me and Allie were first time ever skiers. Never even had a pair of boots on before that day. Not only was he VERY detailed in his way of teaching you the basic of skiing so tjay you enjoyed your self, but he did a fabulous job in being attentive to individuals needs and being able to teach as a group. He is the sole reason we had as good of a time we had that day from his teaching abilities to his one on one conversation during and after the session. If Alpine employees are like this. Then this is the kinda place inwant to support to interact with more of people like him.
2 months agoSo far real good. Newbies at skiing very polite staff in t he rental erea guest services. Gave more opportunity when learning on there bunny hills. I rank them 1st as beginner place. Tried snow trails in mansfield first. Hills to steep. Brandy wine was a joke. Forget it. Tons of people all over no wear to learn paid for private lesson and got a 8 by 8 erea to learn on. Waste of 500 dollars for us. So yes alpine gives you plenty of challenges as a new skier and to build up confidence moving forward in your journey. 2/13/2026
4 weeks agoSnow conditions are extremely hard right now. One fall can easily result in a broken arm or back. Yesterday (Sunday, Feb 1, 2026), three seasoned riders were injured. This isn’t meant as a knock on Alpine Valley, but when conditions are this firm, additional communication, warnings, or mitigation from staff would go a long way toward rider safety. The mountain also appeared noticeably understaffed. Lift lines were excessively long, and equipment rental lines were wrapped around the building, creating congestion everywhere. At one lift, ice had built up in the chair loading area, and the lift operator would not clear it. This caused multiple riders to slide and crash into each other while trying to load the chair, creating an unnecessary and dangerous situation. On top of that, the snow itself was largely unkept ice packed groomers with little sign of meaningful maintenance. Which only increased the risk given the crowd levels. This is Alpine Valley in Chardon, Ohio. It’s a family-heavy hill, and people expect at least baseline safety, staffing, and crowd management…especially during peak conditions. Better grooming, clearer communication, and adequate staffing would make a real difference
