It was a delight on a warmish winter eve. The lit paths are magical, shared by skiers and walkers. A nice fire to warm yourself by afterwards.
2 months agoThe “lit at night” trails, cute lodge, friendly staff, affordable ski rental rates, cozy outdoor and indoor fires. The whole experience was 10/10!
a month agoGroomed and lighted trails for cross-country skiing. I have only cross-country skied once decades ago, but had fun renting equipment, exploring the trails a little over an hour, and having hot chocolate by a fire—for less than $15. If you bring your own equipment and snacks, it’s free I went on a weekday with no crowds. The helpful staff said even on busy days, they almost always have equipment available. Call in advance to check on trail conditions.
3 weeks agoChapin Forest is always a beautiful place to visit and walk all year round. The winter months they have part of the trails lit up with lights which makes for a wonderful night walk in the snow. The Summer is all so peaceful and never too crowded except on holidays. The fall is just stunning with all of the colors and rocks. I walk here probably once a month.
2 years agoWith short winter days, it's very cool to have a lighted nighttime walk in the woods to offset the darkness of the season. About a mile of well-lit trails ending with a fire in the shelter to warm the fingers and toes. Recommend bringing marshmallows and sticks for toasting to finish the evening right!
