Chinese Cultural Garden: Cleveland Garden Guide

My review is slightly biased because it was snowy/icy outside. It was pretty an the statues were cool. The Confucius statue was pretty tall and had carvings in the bottom block.very nice, but wish there was a little tiny more to look at. Hope to come back in the spring when the ground can be seen lol!

The only cultural garden East of East 105th Street. I have a friend who declared to me that this was the best cultural garden. While I am not quite ready to go that far, it is pretty nifty. The guardian stone fantastical lions are spectacular and I think the jewel of this installation. One has a ball 'neath his paw and the other, a lion cub beneath hers'. To the left of the walkway between the guardians is a dedication monument in English and Chinese. The English: "On behalf of the People of Taipei we present this Chinese Cultural Garden to the People of Cleveland as a confirmation of friendship and cultural exchange between our sister cities. Honorable Steven H. T. Hsu, Mayor of Taipei R.O.C. Honorable Clement C. P. Chang, Speaker of the Taipei City Council & Chairman of Taipei Sister Cities Committee R.O.C. Dedicated in 1985 The platform, with dragons decorating the sides, has benches around an imposing statue of the philosopher, Confucius with scenes from his life around the base. The surrounding landscaping has been renewed as part of the Nord Family Greenway improvements. The garden can be viewed from the Greenway trail that runs by the South side was well as from Park Lane on the hillside above the garden to the South.

Established in 1985 this garden was modeled after the Chinese Imperial Palace. Two Chinese dragons guard the entrance with a statue of Confucius (a teacher, philosopher and political theorist, 551-479 BC) atop a white pedestal.

Beautiful culture garden. Easy access, quiet and well maintained.

One of my FAVORITE cultural gardens. Beautiful area to take a stroll.
