Hansa Brewery: Cleveland Brewery Guide

We are so glad we stopped here for dinner! Very authentic! We started with beers of course! I really enjoyed the hefeweizen, we found the beer to be crisp and refreshing. Potato pancakes were our appetizer, they were hearty and delicious. I loved the crispy edges! I got the Hackbraten, it was almost melting how soft and delicate the meat was, wrapped in bacon and smothered in gravy. I found myself in love with the cabbage and green beans, very fresh, bringing a lightness and acidity to the dish, but not overwhelming by any means. Jenna got the Jagerschnitzel, a beautifully cooked pork cutlet served atop a bed of buttery spätzle. Again served with the red cabbage tomatoes and green beans, what a light refreshing side to go with this unctuous pork and gravy. The apple strudel was crispy warm and soft. The perfect amount of dough to filling ratio. The atmosphere was homey, it felt like we were being served a meal by our German grandparents. There was no paper menu but a chalk board. The menu was simple and elegant, the hardest part was picking which dishes to get. I want to go back just to try the paprikash.

Great place! The food is delicious, the beer is excellent and the service is very good. We love this place as it has everything you'd want from an authentic German restaurant. The shop nextdoor is also a treat, selling authentic European goods as fair prices. We will definitely be back.

This place is THE gem of Ohio City!! Absolutely worth the stop. We didn’t have it at the top of our list, but ended up there for lunch. We were BLOWN AWAY. The food was incredible. Delicious and authentic. The beer was legit top quality. Boris, the owner, provided the perfect local color and is an institution of the area. If your choice is between the commercial spots along 25th, or this local treasure a block off, the right choice is definitely the latter. 10/10

Great variety of quality German beer. The gentlemen behind the bar was the perfect host and added to our experience as he boasted about the many medals the brewery has won in competition. I really enjoyed the Schwartzbier, it was refreshing and delicious.

Absolutely delicious! Best chicken paprikash I've ever had. Though I was jealous of the pork shnitzel, which was equally delicious. Generous portions of spatzel too!
