What Visitors Say
“People say this hiking area offers a well-maintained bike path, easy riding, and beautiful scenery. They highlight the ample parking, decent restrooms, and access to the Beaver Marsh boardwalk. They also like the long, flat trail along the old canal, which is suitable for biking or jogging.”
Great parking spot to get on the towpath, and be close to the beaver marsh viewing deck! 1.75 in either direction will take you to another potential stopping point if you are hiking or bike riding. May not be the most interesting place for younger kids/teens aside from the marsh, but it's very accessible.
a month agoWe visited on a late Saturday afternoon in mid-April 2025. There were many cars in the parking lot when we arrived but there were still a couple of spots. There are 2 pit toilets next to the parking lot. There are also some info boards as you start on the trail about the wildlife here. it's a very short walk North to get to the boardwalk and beaver marsh. We spotted what we thought was a beaver den. There were many birds out when we visited. It was very nice and beautiful short hike. We passed by old canal gate and saw lots of wildlife. There were a lot of people on the boardwalk and while I wouldn't say it was crowded, it certainly was busy. None of the leaves were out on the trees yet so you could see much more than normal it felt like. But there was also very little shade. Lucky for us it was also like 50s outside so it was actually a little chilly. If we were driving through it's worth a quick stop by and hike out to see what's going on. Fun little afternoon activity.

5 months agoNice flat path with crushed rock on path. Plenty of parking where I was. I didn't see any Beavers, but saw a couple Dear and a couple snakes.
6 months agoGreat trailhead to get down into Beaver Marsh - head north onto the trail from here! Also a good hike to get down to Szalay’s and enjoy some snacks then hike back.
