They highlight the reasonable admission price, free parking, and the opportunity to purchase a membership for early access. They also like the family-friendly atmosphere and the beautiful grounds with exhibits designed like nature trails. ”
I love how the zoo was arranged. You can go round and see all the animals without missing any. The aquarium was the best place. When we visited the zoo it was really cold so most of the animals didn't come out. There were indoors. Its a great place to go in summer or fall to really enjoy seeing the animals. This is one of the best Zoo I've visited. They are also expanding. I'm sure it will be awesome when the expansion is done.
3 months agoI came on a nice 60°F day in November. Many of the animals were out and about. The elephants and cheetahs were my favorite to watch! The layout and flow is nice. We spent about 2 hours exploring. I was disappointed the polar bear exhibit was closed, but that was one of the few areas renovations are being done. I would love to come back and see the final result. Plent of free parking. Clean restrooms. Friendly staff. Military discount offered in person. Overall a great pick!
4 months agoI felt so disappointed with my recent and first time visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium last Saturday. There was an event going on, "Zoo Boo" or something like that, so obviously there were lots of people and kids. There was some parts under construction, too. I wish there were more staff wandering around as it looked chaotic with the people walking everywhere. There were less animals that were out and it makes me really sad. I hope they are all okay though. Location wise, it was super crowded in the parking area that some people even parked in the grassy field. There weren't a lot of signs and directions so it can be a little disorienting navigating the whole zoo. Now I don't know if it were just the time of the year, but there weren't a lot of animals around and outside when we visited. Shocking to realize there were no bears in sight at all. Nice to see some tigers, lions, cheetahs and others, though. The souvenir shops were nice and well stocked. Just a bit pricey. They sell animal stuffed toys that are not even in this zoo. 🥲 Anyway, I'd still come back here im the future, and enjoy the area. Hopefully I will be able to change this review and give it 5 stars.
4 months agoGreat place for a healthy outdoor walk. Staff is cordial and informed. Most animals are close with unobstructed views. The zoo is always making improvements. This one of my happy places. I recommend getting the year long pass. Very economical.
a month agoSpent a chilly Martin Luther King day walking around with my grandson. The zoo is under construction and alot of the animals were in other places and many exhibits were closed. I was surprised we had to pay full price. We still had a nice day but I would not have driven a hour from Wheeling WV if I had known that I was getting a little bit of the zoo experience. The aquarium experience was a nice break from the cold and beautiful. The highlight for me was the tiger exhibit as the tiger was very active and vocal. My grandson is 12 years old and autistic he enjoyed the day and appreciated the bag of sensory items that was on loan for the day.
